Column Means Test

The column means test looks at means that are presented in a row of a table and compares pairs of columns, testing whether the mean in one column is significantly different from the mean in the other column. IBM® SPSS® Data Collection Survey Reporter automatically assigns an ID to each column in the test. When there is a difference between any pair of means at the chosen significance level, Survey Reporter displays the ID of the column that contains the smaller value below the cell contents of the cell that contains the larger value.

Note that the means must be formed from a mean element in the axis rather than from mean values that are created using the Mean cell contents option. For full details about the types of tables that are suitable for this test and what happens when there is nesting or concatenation, see .
