Navigating Using the Keyboard

General Navigation

To:Press:
Switch between Navigation and Contents panesF6
Scroll downwards through a topic↓ and Page Down
Scroll upwards through a topic↑ and Page Up
Scroll through all of the links in a topic or all of the options on a tab in the navigation paneTab

Contents tab

To:Press:
Select the Contents tabAlt+C
Open a folder→
Close a folder←
Select a topic or folder↓ or ↑
Display the selected topicEnter
Scroll the Contents pane to the leftCtrl+←
Scroll the Contents pane to the rightCtrl+→
Scroll the Contents pane upCtrl+↑
Scroll the Contents pane downCtrl+↓

Index tab

To:Press:
Select the Index tabAlt+N
Select an entry in the list↓ or ↑
Display the selected topicEnter

Search tab

To:Press:
Select the Search tabAlt+S
Type a word to search forAlt+W, and then type the words
To begin the searchAlt+L or Enter
Select a topic in the results listAlt+T and then ↑ and ↓
Select or deselect Search previous resultsAlt+U
Select or deselect Match similar wordsAlt+M
Select or deselect Search titles onlyAlt+R

Favorites tab

To:Press:
Select the Favorites tabAlt+I
Add the current topic to the Topics listAlt+A
Select a topic in the Topics listAlt+P and then ↑ and ↓
Display the selected topicAlt+D
Removed the selected topic from the Topics listAlt+R
Change the name for the current topicAlt+U and then type the new name
